Transformation Complete

IL BIVIO III: Mosaica and the opening of a new chapter at Nomad Art Collective

When this building was purchased from two sisters in 2021, it was the view that sparked everything. Rather than a space along the town’s main street, this location was chosen for something harder to name — the way the sweeping Sicilian landscape unfolds before it, while the intimate, layered life of Sambuca rises beside and behind it. A threshold between two worlds.

Our inaugural exhibition, IL BIVIO: Fragmented Feminine, was presented in the unrenovated space — deliberately, and with intention. We wanted to show that beauty does not wait for perfect conditions. Since then, the building has completed its transformation. The exhibition space has been restored and now hosts shows, events, and cultural gatherings. On the upper level, an apartment serves as an artist residence.

Like the town that surrounds us, this space is in continual evolution.

On the evening of May 9th, over 200 people passed through the doors of Nomad Art Collective to celebrate the opening of IL BIVIO III: Mosaica — Coexistence without Resolution. The crowd was multigenerational, multilingual, and came from near and far. Friends, collectors, artists, neighbors, and first-time visitors filled the rooms, moved through the works, and stayed long into the night.

There is something particular about an opening in a small Sicilian town. The energy is intimate and expansive at the same time. Conversations happen in Italian, English, and everything in between.

Mosaica brought together ten multigenerational Sicilian artists working across painting, photography, sculpture and collage. The exhibition takes its name from the mosaic — not as decoration, but as a method: fragments that do not dissolve into one another, but hold their difference while forming something whole. Coexistence without resolution. It is a principle as true of art as it is of community.

The newly renovated space held the works beautifully. Each room carried its own atmosphere, and yet the exhibition moved as a single body — a conversation across generations, mediums, and visions of what Sicily is and can be.
