Samantha Torrisi paints on the slopes of Mount Etna. She went there in order to work immersed in the nature she paints, and you can feel the difference. These are not landscapes that were visited. They are landscapes that are lived in, in every kind of weather.
What she does with them is unhurried and unforced.
Her recent painting circles around nature and what we have done to it. Her message arrives subtly, through a wood that goes dark at the edges, through washes of paint that drip down the canvas, disturbing their environment.
If you have been meaning to sit with these, this is the moment.
