Francesco Costantino

Lives and works in Palermo, Sicily

Francesco Costantino is an Italian painter who lives and works in Palermo, one of the most compelling voices in the new generation of Sicilian painting.

Trained between Italy and France, he worked alongside the artist Aleksandra Mir, an encounter that left a deep imprint on his practice. On his canvases, quick color, fine lines and delicate shading gather into collages of ordinary fragments: membranes, liquid bodies and gentle marks weave together until the everyday becomes a vision.

His painting moves between memory, matter and perception, treating the canvas almost as a sculptor treats a block, something to be shaped in a continuous dialogue between materiality and transparency. Since his first solo exhibition, Deadline, at Zelle Arte Contemporanea, a meditation on portraiture and identity, he has exhibited in Italy and abroad and
collaborated, on the occasion of Manifesta 12, with international artists such as Lovett and Codagnone.
