Inside the Studio: Marilina Marchica

In Agrigento, surrounded by soft Sicilian light, artist Marilina Marchica works in silence. Her studio is filled with canvases stacked like horizons of pale linens, fragments of paper, traces of pigment in tones of blue.

Marchica’s process is one of reduction and layering. She builds the landscape slowly, stripping away the unnecessary until only its essence remains — the line where sea meets land, and light becomes texture.

From this intimate space emerges her upcoming online solo exhibition, Mediterranean Sea & Land, presented by Nomad Art Collective on Artsy, opening November 14. The exhibition features over thirty original works — drawings, collages, and paintings — exploring the quiet dialogue between nature and abstraction, memory and form.

As the season turns and the Sicilian horizon fades into winter light, these works invite a moment of stillness.
