A painting, as Costantino says, is something that simply happens, and the painter is the scribe present while it takes shape.
We are thrilled to have Francesco with us at Nomad, in our physical space in Sambuca di Sicilia and online. His original oil paintings are part of our permanent collection, and over the coming months we will be adding more of his work online.
Francesco trained between Italy and France, and along the way he collaborated with artist Aleksandra Mir. From her, he kept the habit of touching paper as though it were a person, of treating a humble surface with tenderness.
That tenderness runs through his brushwork.
Quick color, fine lines, and soft passages of shading gather into collages of ordinary fragments until something familiar turns into a vision. He works the surface almost the way a sculptor works a block of stone, layering forms and colors until they become a language of their own.
