Untitled looks into a wooded path. Pale blue light opens through the centre and falls toward the lower edge, and a wash of acid yellow drips down, breaking the silence of the woods. The place is real and entirely unlocatable at the same time, and the loss of those coordinates is the point, leaving the viewer in memory and suggestion rather than in a landscape that can be found on a map. 

Samantha Torrisi was born in Catania in 1977 and trained at the School of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania. She lives on the slopes of Mount Etna, a place she chose in order to work immersed in the nature she paints, and video and photography remain the instruments through which she examines every human and natural setting. Her recent solo exhibitions include. Since 2022 she has been part of the SACS artists archive of Riso, the Regional Museum of Contemporary Art of Sicily, and her work is held in public and private collections.
