Along the left edge a narrow band of bright yellow lets the outside in, a reminder that the view may be arriving through memory. Torrisi's landscape seems to be forming and dissolving all at once.

Samantha Torrisi was born in Catania and lives and works on the slopes of Mount Etna, where the weather moves quickly and the land is often seen through haze or rain. She paints from that condition rather than against it, softening the horizon until distance becomes a feeling. Her landscapes are quiet, soft and green in a way Sicily is rarely imagined to be.
