A lamb stands alone in the corner of a weathered interior, its small white form dwarfed by peeling walls and earthen floor. Shot on analogue medium format film, Pecorella belongs to Motisi's series Manca Anima, where the Sicilian landscape and its living creatures become vessels for an interior state. The grain of the film and the muted palette of greens and creams give the image a timeless quality, suspended between document and dream.
Pietro Motisi is a Palermo-based photographer working in analogue medium format film. His practice engages with landscape, memory, and the material qualities of the photographic image. His project CEMENTO was awarded the 2012 Reginald Salisbury Travel Award and led to a residency at the Goethe Institut.
Pecorella is an edition of 5. It is presented as part of IL BIVIO III: Mosaica, Coexistence without Resolution, on view at Nomad Art Collective, Sambuca di Sicilia (AG), May 9 through July 4, 2026. This work is available for purchase.
