Lemons is a large-scale oil painting (100 × 200 cm) that reflects Anna Kennel’s longstanding engagement with landscape as a site of structure, memory, and human presence. Active since the early 1970s and trained in painting and printmaking, Kennel has developed a disciplined visual language defined by clarity, balance, and quiet intensity.

Rather than depicting fruit directly, Lemons evokes the lemon tree through suspended branches and leaves that hover across luminous yellow fields. The surface is built through successive veils of oil pigment, creating a weathered, sun-saturated ground that suggests exposure, erosion, and the passage of time.
