In una notte e. III (“In One Night”), a sleeping female figure appears stretched across the surface, emerging from a dark, densely engraved field. The horizontal composition reinforces the sense of rest, allowing the body to extend quietly within the surrounding darkness.

Her eyes are closed and one hand rests gently against her face, a gesture that suggests sleep, and a moment of inward retreat. The softly illuminated figure contrasts with the dark background lines, creating the impression that the body is suspended in the silence of the night.

The darkness does not act as a simple backdrop, but as a space that envelops the figure, intensifying the feeling of stillness suggested by the title. As in much of Simone Geraci’s work, the image is built through repetition. The accumulation of engraved lines records the passage of time, turning the act of engraving into a meditative process in which the figure exists between sleep, memory, and dream.
