In One Night, the face emerges from a deep field of engraved lines, created through the slow and meticulous process of soft-ground etching on zinc. The upward tilt of the head suggests a moment suspended between wakefulness and dream. Her closed eyes and relaxed expression evoke the quiet stillness of night. Rather than describing a specific event, the composition conveys the feeling of a passing moment, as if the figure were caught in a brief state of reflection that exists only for an instant.

As in much of Simone Geraci’s work, the image is constructed through repetition and duration. The accumulation of engraved lines records the passage of time, turning the act of engraving into a meditative process in which the figure appears gradually, emerging from darkness into a fragile and temporary light.
