In E-ART-H 34 Oregon, the pale, brushed curves of cultivated fields sweep in from either side like drapery, and the untilled ground between them resolves into a chest and abdomen modeled by shadow, as if a classical sculpture lay embedded in the earth. Nothing here is manipulated: the image is a satellite photograph, framed and captured exactly as the land appears from space.

The work belongs to E-ART-H, the series in which Serradifalco searches the planet's surface for figures hiding in plain sight. Faces, bodies, and silhouettes take shape from deserts, fields, and coastlines, turning the viewer into a co-protagonist who completes the image through the act of seeing.

Max Serradifalco (Palermo, 1978) pioneered satellite photography as an artistic practice with his 2011 project Web Landscape Photography, virtually traveling the globe in search of a new way of observing the Earth. His work has been presented at the Bangladesh Pavilion on the occasion of the 58th Venice Biennale, in a virtual exhibition on the Vatican website, and at Manifesta 12 Palermo, and is held in public collections including Museo Riso, Sicily's museum of modern and contemporary art. He lives and works in Palermo.
