In Die Träumerin II (“The Dreamer”), the figure emerges from a dense field of engraved lines. The surface is built through the accumulation of countless incisions, forming a textured ground from which the portrait gradually appears.

The title suggests a state of inward dreaming. The closed eyes and softened expression give the impression that the figure is turned away from the external world. The contrast between the open, lighter area of the face and the darker, tightly woven background reinforces the sense of separation between interior thought and surrounding space.

As in much of Simone Geraci’s work, the image is constructed through repetition and duration. The slow, disciplined process of engraving allows the figure to emerge over time, transforming the act of making into a meditation on memory.
