Where his works often conceal the eyes of their figures, here one eye remains exposed, meeting the viewer with quiet defiance. Independence is something asserted from within the material itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDemetrio Di Grado is a Caltagirone-based artist whose collage practice, developed since 2016, draws on the visual language of the mid-twentieth century to interrogate identity, memory, and the layered nature of the image.
